WAP brings the internet to the mobile phone What is WAP? WAP is short for the Wireless Application Protocol and offers the ability to connect to the internet from the mobile phone. With the phone the user connects to the internet and can then surf any WAP enabled sites. In comparison the well known short messaging system SMS only supports two way communication. With a WAP phone you can at any time access information like News, Stock Quotes, Sport Results etc. as well as e-commerce sites for purchases. This is all possible thanks to the markup language WML(Wireless Markup Language). The WML sites reside on the internet on normal Web server or on special WAP servers.
